Definition and mission
- Forum for Conservator-Restorers is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Technical Museum in Brno, publishing original or review articles dealing with the care of cultural heritage from various perspectives. Since the journal is prepared by the Methodological Centre for Conservation in cooperation with the Commission of Conservators-Restorers of the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries, special attention is paid to the care of collection objects of memory institutions. The main thematic areas are focused on material and technological research, mechanisms of deterioration, conservation and restoration interventions, preventive conservation, new methods and means in the field of cultural heritage protection. It also deals with the history, theory and ethics of conservation-restoration. The aim of the journal is also to provide examples of good practice with methodological overlap.
- The Forum for Conservator-Restorers is a platform for the dissemination and sharing of knowledge and experience of practicing conservator-restorers, historians, scientists, technologists and other professionals involved in improving the care of cultural heritage, as well as educators and students.
- In order to create a balance between theory and practice, academic research and the application sphere, the journal is divided into three sections:
- peer-reviewed original or review articles, which are reviewed by two independent referees and evaluated by the editorial board, are prepared in accordance with the current methodology for evaluating the outputs of science and research
- other papers that are reviewed only by the Editorial Board
- informative contributions reflecting the developments in the field (medallions of personalities, book reviews, information on interesting developments, etc.).
- The journal is indexed in EBSCO and AATA online databases.
